Amos is a Neverborn Templar Knight and a member of the tribe's inner conclave of senior leadership on Eveny. He serves as the Neverborn's chief ambassador and representative — trusted wholly to carry the will of Bezekira as her voice, eyes, and ears — and bears a matched pair of ancient templar blades that glow a soft dark purple.

Overview

Amos is one of the senior figures of the Neverborn Templar, sitting within the tribe's inner conclave alongside its most trusted leadership. Where the Neverborn as a whole are reclusive — a healing- and meditation-focused order that keeps the location of Eveny a closely guarded secret — Amos is the exception built to face outward. His devotion to the ways of the Neverborn and their cause is considered beyond question, and it is precisely that devotion that earns him the role of the tribe's public face.

He is honored above all as a true believer: a knight whose faith in the Neverborn path is total, and whose loyalty to Bezekira is absolute. That reputation is what allows the conclave to trust him with contact — with outsiders, other tribes, and the dangerous business of diplomacy — without fear that he will be turned, tempted, or corrupted.

Physical description

Amos belongs to a large, feline-like species — one that has not yet been formally named in the lore. He carries himself with the tall, powerful build the species is known for, a presence that reads as imposing even when his manner is gentle and diplomatic.

His coloring is his most distinctive feature: a coat of deep purple fur broken by white highlights that trace and accent his markings, crowned by a striking red mane framing his face and shoulders. The overall effect is regal and unmistakable — a look that suits a figure meant to stand as the visible face of the Neverborn, and one that quietly echoes the dark purple glow of the twin blades he carries.

Role & standing: the voice of Bezekira

Amos's primary role is ambassador and representative of the Neverborn Templar. He is trusted to wholly represent the will of Bezekira, and in practice he functions as her voice, eyes, and ears beyond the sanctuaries of Eveny.

Crucially, that authority is representative rather than sovereign. Amos is trusted as the voice of the Neverborn, but he holds no true sway over the decisions of the tribe. He does not set doctrine or command the conclave; he carries Bezekira's word outward and brings the galaxy's word back to her. The decisions remain hers.

The twin blades

To mark the close of his first age of duty, Amos was presented with a matched pair of ancient templar blades — a straight sword and a katana — of the same lineage as the weapons Sun Jin Kaisara and Forza Ninetails would later carry. His, however, are distinguished by a soft internal glow of dark purple, setting them apart from the colors seen on other such blades.

Forged of Varunium Steel, the pair were given not as tools of conquest but as protection — a means to defend himself while abroad on diplomatic missions, whether to Magnum, to other tribes, or anywhere else his ambassadorial duties might carry him. Fittingly for a Neverborn envoy, they are framed as a safeguard for a man whose work is meant to be words first and steel only if forced.

Story role: the arrival at Sanctus

Amos steps onto the page during the arc in which Rio Narro and Akima Ciberling reach Eveny aboard the Silver Slayer. Intercepted by a Neverborn Templar patrol in nearby space, the pair are forced to land at Sanctus, and Amos is present to receive them.

He separates Akima and Rio, but treats both as honored guests rather than prisoners. Over the course of their stay he takes a fond liking to Rio, and is candid with her about the Neverborn's hard rule of secrecy: because Eveny's location must be protected, visitors who arrive generally must remain on the planet — and, in rare cases, those who prove excessively hostile are executed.

The turn comes over dinner. Rio confesses the whole shape of the Sun Jin Empire's plot and its apparent entanglement with the Nightfall Templar — and her fear of what Sun Jin Kaisara and her Empire, paired with the Nightfall Templar, will do next. After seizing Amber Krowe and dismantling the Systems Alliance, she fears they will turn on the Neverborn Templar, with Eveny itself as the next target. Amos is shocked, and the honesty of it wins his trust completely. In the same encounter he senses the faint trace of Templar energy within her — her latent Trace.

Amos judges that Akima Ciberling, by contrast, may be far too violent to release and might have to be imprisoned. He carries everything he has learned back to Bezekira, who weighs it and rules that Rio — though undeniably a threat — is also a person of trust, someone the Neverborn can allow to leave. By this point, the beginnings of "a thing" between Rio and Amos are already showing.

Relationship with Rio Narro

What starts as an honored-guest courtesy grows into something real. Weeks later — after the events on Caisteal (the RD10-003 Incident and the Battle at Birch) — Rio Narro makes her way back to Eveny and stays. There she begins training as a Templar, learning to wield her now-understood gift of Trace — her uncanny ballistic intuition.

It is here that Amos and Rio move into a genuine romantic relationship. What draws him is not just fondness but alignment: he falls for her turn toward a higher calling — a devotion to protecting people for its own sake — over her prior loyalty to Sun Jin Kaisara and the Sun Jin Empire. For a knight whose entire identity is built on true devotion to a cause greater than himself, Rio choosing purpose over allegiance is exactly what makes her worthy in his eyes.
